AFRICANS CLAIMING AFRICA FOR CHRIST
2012 CONFERENCE
LUSAKA, ZAMBIA
Date: August 8, 2012
WELCOMING SPEECH BY THE
CHAIRMAN OF THE ORGANIZING COMMITTEE:
Rabson W. Mhango
(Elder)
The Church Elders, Church
Ministry leaders, Brothers and Sisters,
It is my rare and great
opportunity to welcome you to this 6th African’s Claiming Africa for Christ
Conference, held here in the Zambian capital Lusaka, from 8th to 12th August
2012. On behalf of the organizing committee, the Zambian Church and indeed the
people of Zambia, I say you are all welcome!
We welcome you to this
great and peaceful Country. A Country that has participated on every forum, be
it in politics, economics, sports and indeed spiritual matters on the continent
of Africa.
Zambia has a great passion
to the advancement, integration and prosperity of the African people.
Every great African leader
has been to Lusaka. The City of Lusaka has in part been a center for dialogue,
strategic planning and indeed signing of many agreements towards the emancipation
of the African people.
The Zambian Church also
welcomes you to this Country of 13,000,000 people to Lusaka, a City of
2,000,000. The Zambian Church has a history of more than 100 years.
The Zambian Church has been
an active participant of the ACAC, from 1992 when it was launched in Nairobi,
Kenya. Zambians were there in Chinoyi Zimbabwe in 1997, Johannesburg in South
Africa in 2000, Accra Ghana in 2004, and Lagos in Nigeria in 2008.
We have every intention to
be there in the future of ACAC. We believe together we can do more.
In Zambia, we have
benefitted greatly from the efforts, resources and sacrifices of Missionaries
from many lands. We believe that these gallant men and women formed a great
foundation for Zambia and Africa. But we also believe that we are the
transition period. A period that we the Zambians, and yes, us the Africans
should and must take a predominant role to the continued growth of the African
Church and the advancement of God’s Kingdom.
We in Zambia believe in the
vision of ACAC, in the platform of exchanging ideas, in the platform of sharing
a common destiny, in the platform of working together.
We welcome you all to this
6th Africans Claiming Africa for Christ Conference being the 20th year since
its inception in 1992.
We thank God for the
hosting of this conference. For in the midst of many challenges like not enough
advance funding, the Lord has come through for us in a mighty way.
It is our prayer that the
Lord will see us through the whole conference peacefully and that you will
enjoy your time here in Zambia.
God Bless
